Of this and that...

My workstation. :) nice, eh? Again, i'm publishing this from Sony Ericsson W830i. Since i've got internet connection in my phone, have truly been able to explore the features. Pretty cool this is! I can play radio, and record bits of music and make sony Ericsson remember it for me. I can browse through all news portals, blog, check mails, google, Download songs and ringtones etc etc. I even get RSS feeds directly into my phone!! I'll keep this up as long as i'm connected. Tempting it is, but will get heavy on my pocket!

And to add to that you can also use ur phone for many other unimaginable things like pop download mails, chat like messages (gtalk, yahoo)... just explore getjar.com .... and first thing is install opera mini (if you not done it by now) and see the performance improvement... ofcourse only if you have unlimited internet connection and not usage based charges...

and there is another fundu software called my phone explorer for sony phones which lets you do everything which you do on ur mobile phone from your comp... even calling, messaging, calender, adding editing contacts... plus a lot more.. like taking backup.. archive of messages.. here is the link for the software http://www.fjsoft.at/en/

Yes Vishal. I am aware of using IMs from mobile phones. You can download mobile versions of gmail and open those to check your mails. I was talking generally about features I can explore with internet connection.

My phone explorer is a good software which lets you sync with your phone and do all the operations from your PC instead of using the phone. Kinda beats the idea of having a cool super phone! But good thing is that it keeps charging you phone constantly.

Although you can do almost everything from your cell, I don't think its going to make a big impact. End of the day, lay man I beleive hates to type using a cell phone unless we get a much better version of ipod (touch screen).. and that for some time is going to cost hell lot of money. But mobile technology as much exciting as it is, it may fail to impress end users (remember the hype around bluetooth/gini in early 2000?). It takes a long time to fine tune a piece of software and hardware.
That said, if someone can come close to beat Pete Sampras' seemingly invincible grand slam record, anything can happen in the tech world as well.
